4D Planning

4D Planning

The 4D Planning feature in RIM-Nat allows for the integration of time-based data within a 3D scene, enabling users to visualize and manage the progression of a project over time. This feature makes it possible to simulate construction phases, project milestones, or task sequences by adjusting the visibility of different layers in the 3D model according to a timeline.

How 4D Planning Works

  1. Layer Configuration by the Administrator: A project administrator can assign a time range to each layer, with start and end values (as integers):

    • Start only: The layer becomes visible from the specified start value and remains visible thereafter.
    • End only: The layer is visible until the specified end value, after which it disappears.
    • Start and End: The layer is visible only within the defined time range.
    • No 4D values: The layer is visible at all times.
  2. Display of the 4D Slider: As soon as at least one layer has a 4D value assigned, a 4D slider appears in the scene, allowing users to navigate through time.

4D Slider Options

The 4D slider controls layer visibility based on the defined time ranges and provides the following options:

  • Time Slider: Drag the slider to navigate through time and adjust layer visibility.
  • Animation Duration: Set the animation duration to control the speed of the phasing.
  • Play/Pause: Start or pause the animation to review the project’s progression step-by-step.
  • Stop: Stop the animation at any point.
  • Loop: Enable looping to automatically replay the animation.

These controls allow users to visualize different project phases by simulating the appearance and disappearance of elements within the scene.

Benefits of 4D Planning

The 4D planning tool is particularly useful for:

  • Construction Phasing: Simulate the different stages of a construction site and visualize work sequences.
  • Validation of Task Sequencing: Verify the coherence and order of tasks within a project.
  • Progress Tracking and Communication: Provide stakeholders with a visual overview of the project’s evolution over time.

This feature is a powerful project management tool, facilitating planning, communication, and schedule control within a 3D environment.
